Instead toggling between two applications, BIM 360 and GAMMA AR customers can now rely on one solution for their construction reviews.

Construction is complex. In order to execute on projects successfully, teams across the project lifecycle – from design to site construction and close-out – need to be able to access the information they need, when they need it.
This is where GAMMA AR and its new integration with Autodesk BIM 360® comes in. GAMMA AR applies augmented reality (AR) to overlay BIM models on live construction sites and makes the views available on mobile devices. GAMMA AR uses the data contained in design files to show what the build should look like and compares it to what’s being constructed onsite. All stakeholders, ranging from owners, design managers, project managers, subcontractors and more, can use the tool to monitor construction and ensure it maps to the intended designs.

Now, through an integration with Autodesk BIM 360, a leading construction management software that is directly linked to design files used across the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry, customers can import their design models from BIM 360 directly in to GAMMA AR. By linking BIM 360 and GAMMA AR, customers can ensure they’re always looking at the latest designs available to the project team in BIM 360, so they can identify and address any discrepancies immediately.

GAMMA AR allows customers on site to capture information directly in the application. If they notice any errors or conditions on the site that don’t align with design, customers can instantly create RFIs, write comments and link photos to specific locations in their BIM models. Those observations can also be attached to specific building components, so the on-site team can collaborate in real-time with all stakeholders who need to be aware of the situation. Mistakes can be avoided or addressed immediately, reducing the need for rework and ultimately helping projects stay on time and within budget.

Due to digitalization, the construction industry just like any other sector is facing major changes. BIM models, combined with new display technologies such as augmented reality, are playing an increasingly important role. Their interaction forms the basis for innovations that can not only contribute to shorter planning and construction times but also help to minimize errors and costs. Thus, an application like GAMMA AR offers the construction industry the opportunity to take advantage of new approaches in design, manufacturing, construction, and tracking that other industries have long since adopted.

GAMMA AR enables architects, planners, craftsmen, and other stakeholders to continuously control the construction process using the digital model.
