Can Tech-Driven Education Help Fix Construction’s Labor Crisis?

At Vilnius Tech (Lithuania), educators are reimagining construction education to better engage a new generation of learners. Facing a shrinking labor pool and a widening gap between classroom theory and on-site reality, the university has turned to emerging technologies—including Augmented Reality (AR) and openBIM—to modernize its teaching approach.

Through tools like GAMMA AR and real-world training environments on campus, students are learning how to interact with digital models, coordinate virtually on jobsite tasks, and develop the hands-on problem-solving skills the industry now demands.

This shift toward immersive, tech-driven learning equips students with future-ready skills while also helping reposition construction as a high-tech, attractive field for tomorrow’s workforce.
